
Lares Valley - Machupicchu 4D/3N
Tour Highlights

On this tour, we will hike about 7 or 8 hours per day at an elevation of about 2,900 meters. Lares Valley has impressive panoramic views of various peaks, snow-capped mountains, and beautiful lagoons. We will camp in communities where we can appreciate the art and textile traditions that are being preserved in these places.

ITINERARY

Day 01: Cusco - Calca - Baños Termales de Lares – Cuncani.
We will leave Cusco very early in the morning and head toward the Sacred Valley, arriving at the Lares Hot Springs, where we will spend the morning enjoying the warm water. After lunch, we will hike about two hours to arrive at Cuncani, where we will camp for the evening.
Day 02: Cuncani – Epsaycocha.

We will continue our hike through the valley until we arrive at the community of Huacawasi. The people here produce fine textiles. We will be able to see their great skill and techniques in making ponchos and other articles of clothing. Leaving the village, we will climb up to the Condorpasa mountain pass, which lies at 4,100 members above sea level. From this place, we will have an amazing view of snow-capped Veronica, which reaches 5,750 meters above sea level. We will hike down for about one hour to arrive at beautiful Epsaycocha Lagoon, where we will set up our last campsite.
Day 03: Epsaycocha - Patacancha - Willoc - Pumamarka - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes.
We will descend into the valley and go to the Willoc community, where we will have lunch. From there, we will walk another two hours to the Pumamarka community. There we can see the Incan terraces. Then we will go to Ollantaytambo, which lies in a fertile valley protected by enormous mountains. This is a perfect place to appreciate many of the archeological remains that our ancestors have left us, as well as a variety of plants and birds. Then we will go to the Ollantaytambo Station where we will board the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes, where we will settle into a comfortable hotel.
Day 04: Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu – Cusco.

After a very early breakfast, we will board the bus to go to Machupicchu. Upon signing in, we will have an enjoyable three-hour guided tour. Then we will take a bus to return to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time and be able to get to know the locals a little better before we return to the city of Cusco.
